Jemima Claire Salyer and Dustin Kane Rowland were united in marriage at Dungan Chapel Baptist Church on Saturday, March 17, 2012, at 2 p.m. Rev. Richard Estep, uncle of the bride, officiated the exchange of vows.
The bride is the daughter of Roy and Joyce Salyer. She is the granddaughter of John and Mary Lewis and the late Homer and Iona Salyer.
The groom is the son of George and Peggy Rowland. He is the grandson of Charles and Beulah Mays and Norman and Daisy Rowland.
Wedding music was provided by Rev. Eric Heaton, accompanied by the bride’s mother, and LaDonna Proffitt, Vera West and Janice Estep, aunts of the bride.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a satin gown with chiffon overlay and capped sleeves. A medieval cross pendant of black crystals adorned the bodice.
She carried a nosegay of white roses and black ostrich feathers, complimented by a broach and ring passed down by her great-grandmother.
Mary Salyer attended her sister as maid of honor. Carrie Stevens served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Stephanie Sliger, Amber Irick and Tiffany Whitehead. Each was attired in a black cocktail dress of her own choosing.
Cydney Forney attended her mother as junior maid of honor. Junior bridesmaids were Keiana Forney and Matilda Salyer, daughters of the bride, Sabrina Rowland, the groom’s niece, and Alisha Harrell, niece of the bride. Each wore a dress of white satin and netting with a black satin sash. Black rosebuds adorned the bottom.
Robert Rowland attended his brother as best man. Groomsmen were Joshua Walsh and Jamin Buckles, the bride’s cousin. Nolan Bradley, nephew of the bride, was junior groomsman.
Brenda Howell served her niece as director and Lindsey Collins registered the guests.
A reception was held in the church fellowship hall featuring barbecue by the bride’s uncle, Marvin Grindstaff, and cake by Jacqueline Hatfield, cousin of the bride.
The couple reside in Elizabethton.
