West Elk Avenue has been closed to all traffic as emergency crews are working to contain the scene of a multi-car accident near the Broad Street junction.
The call went out over emergency frequencies shortly before 8 p.m. on Tuesday evening that as many as three cars had been involved in a serious collision in the area of Lewis Used Cars.
As of yet, there are no confirmed fatalities, however, several people have been taken away in ambulances, and the Elizabethton Police Department’s STAR (Strategic Traffic Action Reconstruction) team – which is typically used for accidents involving deaths – has been called to the scene.
Motorists are advised to seek an alternate route as emergency crews continue working to contain the scene.
