Youth serves Lady Cyclones well in 1-AA quarters

Freshman wings Kelci and Kayla Marosites equaled the scoring output of the West Greene Lady Buffaloes Friday night at Treadway gym in the Region 1-AA tournament quarterfinals.
Kelci scored 21 while twin sister Kayla netted 17 as the Lady Cyclones (25-4) dispatched the Buffaloes 72-38 to remain at home and host a semi-final contest Monday evening against South Greene, which survived an overtime game against Sullivan East.
Both girls are young but advanced in basketball for their age, and it shows on the court as they know their roles and play them exceptionally well.
“Just watching how the upperclassmen play and how they pass the ball has really been a big help,” Kelci said. “When teams try to stop the post, they kick it back out to us and my confidence comes from my teammates who support me, and that really helps.”
